Perfect Pod Filters 3 pack : Perfect Pod Filters 2 Pack - 100 Total Filters
I've had (and loved) a Senseo for three years, and have used the Perfect Pod for two years. Up until now, it's been terrific for making any kind of pod I wanted. This month (November 2009), I ordered pod filters after being out of them since summer. I noticed immediately that they looked different. The filters I'd always gotten were paper-like and substantial, more like a regular coffee filters. These filters were very thin and had a fiberglass appearance. I attempted to prepare a pod according to manufacturers instructions, just as I always had, by filling the pod and pressing for three seconds. But this new pod was not even close to being sealed. So I pressed again. It seemed sealed, and I put it in my Senseo to make my coffee. After seeing the brew was very weak, I opened the Senseo to find that the pod had come apart and there were coffee grounds in my Senseo and coffee cup. I tried another pod, this time pressing at least 10 seconds. The pod held up through the brew, but fell apart upon removal. I don't know what the manufacturer has done to these pods, but they are not the same as they used to be.
UPDATE: I spoke with customer service, and the rep knew why I was calling before I told her. She said the manufacturer had used a different paper that required higher heat to seal, so they would send a replacement. I asked why they sent out the filters if they knew there was a problem with them. She said because "most" people didn't have problems with them. She said I could use an iron set on high to seal the defective filters (!?!).
